We are kicking off another series, I am calling 'BTS' or behind the scenes, with an inside look at the making of one of our handmade farmhouse tables. I have to applaud my husband, David, for his incredible skill and expertise that has brought my vision to life. I also have to thank the most naturally gifted photographer and friend, Zoe Grant, for capturing this process so that we are able to share it with you! As a side note, she is a ray of sunshine and her work is brilliant.
Each and every table we make here at bluebird's is a labor of love. We pour ourselves into making it the perfect addition to any home and anticipate that it will be the canvas behind each meal and every conversation. We love providing a piece of furniture that can withstand the wear of daily use while offering a timeless esthetic appeal. The beauty of this table is that it could start with one person and eventually seat their entire family, extended families, and friends.
Once David has constructed the table, I begin the distressing process. Next, I apply our home brew stain, a top secret mixture that we make in house that allows each wood grain to react differently. This creates an array of color variations within each board and makes each one truly one-of-a-kind. This is followed by the finishing touches and applying a thin wax seal. The seal protects the table from food and drink without jeopardizing the authenticity of the wood. Once this wax seal sets the table is complete and ready for a new home!
We hope you will enjoy this glimpse behind the scenes and come in and order your very own farmhouse table today so that we may forever be a part of your family gatherings.
